Integrity Institute Partners with the DLC Leadership Program
May 7, 2026
The Integrity Institute announces a new partnership with the DLC Leadership Program, the first free, modular, asynchronous certification program designed specifically for community moderators in gaming. Led by Dr. Rachel Kowert, the DLC Leadership Program equips gaming community leaders with evidence-based skills in conflict resolution, crisis management, and emotional resilience — training that most volunteer moderators have never had access to before. The program's launch was recently covered by Game Developer.
The DLC Leadership Program offers self-paced, modular certification courses that teach community leaders how to build sustainable, resilient spaces while protecting their own wellbeing. Guides and curriculum contributions come from a broad coalition of leading gaming studios, vendors, and experts — including industry partners such as Twitch, Roblox, Riot Games, and online safety organizations, such as Christchurch Call Foundation, Thorn’s NoFlitr, and Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT), and more in the digital ecosystem — all made available to the gaming community free of charge.
This partnership reflects a natural alignment with the Integrity Institute's core mission. Gaming communities represent one of the largest and most underserved frontiers in Trust & Safety, where volunteer moderators routinely manage harassment, toxicity, and coordinated abuse with little institutional support or formal training. By partnering with the DLC Leadership Program, the Integrity Institute brings its expertise in integrity practice and platform accountability to bear on the community layer of the internet. Human moderators who, like other platform integrity workers, are on the front lines of keeping digital spaces safe and healthy.
The Integrity Institute is a global nonprofit think tank and membership organization powered by a community of Trust and Safety professionals with direct experience preventing digital harms. Our members have built and governed the systems that shape online experiences for billions of people, and we translate that operational expertise into public‑interest research and information, policy guidance, and practical tools for the field. Our community of experts has directly confronted critical challenges like generative AI, election misinformation, targeted harassment campaigns, hate speech, and more by designing, deploying, and scaling solutions on nearly every major technology platform - from social media to gaming. Because we have built and used platform interventions, we understand the systemic drivers of these harms and know which tools, data, and strategies to deploy to mitigate or prevent them entirely.
